Writers Festivals
Donna Ward:
“It was great to be back in my home town to talk about books and ideas with so many of my old friends, and new people who I met along the way. I had great conversations about publishing and creating anthologies with people like Jane Pearson from Text Publishing, Caroline Wood from Margaret River Press and Julianne Schulz from the Griffith Review. I shared views on love and sex and our challenging bodies with people like Samuel Wagon Watson, Dorothy Brett and the comedian Luke Ryan. The most interesting experience was talking with Emma Healy, author of Elizabeth is Missing, in which the narrator possesses a vital clue to a murder, but her alzheimer’s disease gets in the way of her revealing the truth. A truly unique read. ”
Angela Meyer:
“I had an amazing time at both festivals. At Perth Writers Festival it was incredible to share the stage with some of Australia’s best contemporary short fiction writers Ellen van Neerven, Maxine Beneba Clarke & Susan Midalia, chaired by Laurie Steed. At Adelaide Writers Week Captives sold out after a packed session feat. me & Australian Love Stories editor Cate Kennedy, chaired by Patrick Allington. At that session the audience reacted very warmly to my readings, even heckling me to read more! It was a privilege to share the stage with Cate, whose own short fiction has been an inspiration. ”
