Champagne Celebration in Melbourne
Our home town celebration will begin at 7.45 pm on 14 August at The Carmelite Centre Melbourne.
We are honoured that David Tacey, Professor of Literature at La Trobe University will launch Australian Love Poems 2013, edited by Mark Tredinnick. A teacher in the crisis of meaning in Western culture, David is also a public intellectual who addresses contemporary issues springing from spirituality, religion and society. Best known for his books Edge of the Sacred (Sydney 1995; 2nd ed., Zurich 2009) and ReEnchantment: the New Australian Spirituality (Harper Collings 200) his most recent book is Gods and Diseases: Making Sense of Our Physical and Mental Well Being (Harper Collins, 2011)
The evening will include readings by Australian Love Poets Jordie Albiston, Paul Hetherington, Alicia Sometimes, Gregory Day, Lisa Jacobson and Bronwyn Lovell. We will hear from Sandy Cull and Mark Tredinnick about how they created this remarkable poetry collection.
Come along and sip champagne and slip strawberries into your mouth.
